The National Capital Commission (NCC) has recommended to Federal Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, that Tunney’s Pasture be selected as the future location for the redevelopment of the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.
As the Member of Provincial Parliament for Ottawa Centre, I would like to thank the NCC for conducting public consultations that brought a variety of ideas, criteria, and partners to the table.
What I have consistently heard from my community is that we need to ensure the new Civic Campus remains in the downtown core, is accessible by public transit, and provides world-class healthcare in a 21st century hospital. Over the coming weeks, I look forward to hearing from my community and The Ottawa Hospital on the feasibility and viability of this recommended site.
As this proposal will now be reviewed by the federal government, I will continue working with Ottawa Centre MP Catherine McKenna on ensuring the future Civic Campus location contributes to the healthy, sustainable development of our city overall.
